Calling and talking to friends back in India is the best part of my day. Reaching their voice mail is the worst. Anybody who calls up back home will wish the earth was flat and we all had the same time. Our evening time, the right time for us to socialize is their wake up call. "Hey nouman, I am right now in taking a test, I will call you back later" is something does not surprise us anymore.



I try to rotate with as many numbers as I have, to hide my "vettiness". But then x816 series seems to stand out from the rest. It is more difficult to reach those people on x816 series. While one of the machines sleeps for 12 hours a day, it does not even take a voice mails. Another one belonging to same series takes voice messages but hides them from its master. Fortunately, one of them is courteous to inform me with a owner like voice "there is a family get-together at home".

Apart from the x816 series, there are unique numbers like x617 which please you by playing Shakira's "hips dont lie". But all the excitement is lost soon when the owner picks up the call. ( not that the owner cant sing :P ) This is one of the rare occasions when you wish the phone is not picked up immediately.
